3 – Strategic Planning Retreat Update – Dr. Huerta

Dr. Huerta noted the college held an administrator’s retreat in early August.  The Strategic Plan was the focus.  Dr. Lillibridge helped to facilitate.  The handout provided is a preliminary document.  Most of the discussion was on Strategic Priority #1, Improve Graduation Rates.  Dr. Huerta noted there had been a decline the last few years.  The group focused on ways to improve and what the college could do strategically.   One way would be to design more certificates that lead to associate and on to bachelors.  Dr. Huerta noted it was a productive day and a half.  A follow up will come next month.  The persons responsible for the goal(s) will meet at 9:00 a.m. before Admin Council and report to Admin Council.  Dr Chieffo noted the freshman year experience will be good for retention but we do need to work more closely with the cohort.  We have our Strategic Plan, now we follow up and implement.  Dr. Lillibridge noted that we are all responsible and we should report our progress.  Dr. Huerta noted updates will be given as we go.
